Ingredients

For the Beef

  • 2 pounds Beef Chuck Roast or sirloin/round steak
  • 1 teaspoon Salt preferably kosher
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

For the Gravy

  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 4 cups Beef Broth use low-sodium
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder or fresh minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup Flour or cornstarch for gluten-free

For Thickening

  • 1/2 cup Additional Cooking Liquid reserved

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the chuck roast into bite-sized cubes, trimming excess fat.
  • Season the beef cubes with salt and black pepper.
  • Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker, then layer the seasoned beef cubes on top.
  • Pour the beef broth over the meat and onions, adding Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.
  • Scoop out half a cup of cooking liquid, whisk in flour until smooth, then return to slow cooker for 30 minutes on high.

Notes
